A Note from Liz...
Wednesday we went to the church in Baan Paeo. We saw the new church plant building and prayed over the city and from top to bottom of the building. We broke up into small groups and visited some Christians from that church as well as some seekers from the area. We then went on a prayer walk around the city and met at an outdoor restaurant, enjoyed dinner, and then got caught in a monsoon. We had to run all the way back to the church. We were soaked! At the church we had a prayer meeting, and really didn't expect anyone to come because of the torrential rain, but 5 people came! Praise God! Yesterday, we went to a cell group at a church member's home in the coconut grove. Three ladies drove two hours to attend. They treated us to a wonderful, traditional meal made up of mostly things they grow/harvest. After that, our team split and a couple went to go buy gifts for the schools. One school needed a new computer and the other requested clocks since no classrooms had any. The shop owner decided to give us all 19 of the clocks for less than retail price because we were donating them. What a blessing! The other part of the team went back to our hotel and prepped materials for English Camp and an English worship service. We then enjoyed an American dinner of pizza with Brian and Abby Lindsey and their three kids. They are Alliance missionaries living in Mahachai. Please continue to keep all of our missionaries and their families in your prayers, as well as our team!

Day 3 came and there was still more work to do, but progress is definitely being made. Another room is nearly completed. Sandy & Cory were pulled away from the school to help Bible school teacher Miss Lee. She lives in campus housing. She had previously paid a contractor to paint her kitchen for her while she was out. By the time she got back, the contractor had painted 3 out of 4 walls a different shade of blue. And the above you see pictures of the light blue wall with dark blue splotches. That is where the paint had failed to hold up to grease splatter, causing it to be a different color. She is now thrilled to have a freshly painted kitchen that looks great!
Our story doesn't stop there... The team enjoyed dinner with Wichan and his family, along with Debbie Vik and they were able to enjoy some more "Ice Cream Evangelism". It looks like it is a tough job, but someone has to do it, LOL! Take a look at the interesting rice and flavors on each dish of ice cream and of course the smile on Mike's face really says it all! Keep praying friends, God is good and working in mighty ways throughout His kingdom! The Team in Kohn Kaen has continued to be hard at work building the addition to the church and also had some pictures of the beautiful countryside as they traveled the long way from Bangkok. The first picture is of the Thai prayer at the guest house before the teams split on their respective assignments. The later pictures show the physical labor that is being put into the renovation. The work is hard but very fulfilling. Keep praying for the strength of both teams.
The work on the church is progressing and the flooring is almost finished. The team is working hard to finish construction in these areas. They also experienced some "Ice cream evangelism" according to Sandy...where you go get the ice cream truck to come and park at the church with cute little girls and a delicious treat! We told the ice cream truck to come back tomorrow! Mike Friedl is a very happy camper! Keep the prayers coming as we continue to work in the heat and get through jet lag. We can see that God is using the teams to really make a difference.
Yesterday the team met with Pastor Sukprasan and his wife, Eve. We met at their church in Mahachai--Mahapawn Living Water Church. We we're blessed to pray with them and begin our training for the schools later this week. We then enjoyed a wonderful meal prepared by Eve. Last night, we joined with a bunch of other missionaries around Thailand for their monthly potluck and prayer meeting. It was amazing to hear what God was doing all around Thailand. You can be praying for our team to have health and energy to press forward. Jet lag has hit a lot of members fairly hard, and our missionary, Sue Danneker is sick today, so prayers for fast healing!
The Kohn Kaen Team is already hard at work building up the Kingdom as they are constructing an addition onto a church that formerly ministered to lepers. It is expanding to serve and minister to others within their community. Funding had been sent prior to our arrival and the construction had begun. As you can see from the pictures, we are working on areas for a church office, hallway, bathroom, shower and 2 Sunday School rooms. After a morning of work, we were treated to a delicious lunch. The fish soup was amazing. We were so blessed.
The team is doing well and adjusting to the heat and humidity. It was only 88 degrees yesterday but with 90% humidity, it took some getting use to. Thank you for your continued prayers! The Team made it to the Bible School in Kohn Kaen. Cory sent these photos to introduce us to the school and the missionary and his family that he is currently the advocate for. Wichan is shown in the picture as he studies and does devotions at 5am. Cory says that is really something, as he did not get out of class until after 9pm the evening before. Let us pray for him and his young family who work hard to minister to the people of Thailand. Please also remember out teams and that God will use them in a mighty way.
Team EdSue just checked into our hotel in Mahachai. The other half of the team is on their way north with Debbie. We enjoyed a night together at the Alliance Guest House last night. The couple that is running the Guest House now was very excited to open the suitcases we brought for them. A family had requested a scooter because the ones they have are in rough shape. They loved the two, new ones we brought them. A missionary family was staying there, and their little girl got to try it out! God is at work! Thanks for the support River Valley family!
Here is the team as they travel to shine God's light in Thailand...
We are happy to report that the team has made it safe and sound to Thailand and is anxious to get right to work. They will be starting early in the morning (Bangkok time) to head out with their ministry team. Here are some of the items that were taken to bless those they come to serve. Thank you to all who contributed!
